Welcome to Highview Kindergarten

Highview Kindergarten is registered with OFSTED for children from the age of birth to 5 years and undergo regular inspections. The Kindergarten was opened 20 years ago. Alex Westrup, the Area Manager, works closely with Sacha Seabrook, Operations Manager, to oversee the running of the nursery. Julie Fry, the Manager, is responsible for the day to day care, together and with her team, they pride themselves on consistently maintaining a high standard of childcare with emphasis on education. The family owned company also owns another similar Nursery in Urmston.

Our most recent OFSTED inspection was held in June 2009, for which we were awarded the grading of ‘GOOD‘, with most categories being graded as ‘OUTSTANDING‘.

The Nursery is set in a delightful 150 year old stone built residence of great charm and immense character with spacious rooms and good sized private lawns and an all weather play area. Highview occupies a pleasant and quiet location in Sharples, just one mile from Bolton’s ring road, easily accessible from Astley Bridge, Heaton, Smithhills, Horwich, Belmont, Egerton and Dunscar.

We aim to provide a happy and secure environment for your child, where your child will be cared for and educated during his/her most formative years. The activities in the kindergarten are all based on the belief that children learn and develop through play. The older children enjoy our weekly visits from our French Teacher, as well as visits from ‘Lancashire Dance Academy‘ who concentrate on developing physical skills and control. Swimming lessons are also available for the over threes.

We pride ourselves on having a professional team of qualified and experienced nursery staff, as well as an Early Year Professional (EYP) and a Qualified Teacher. We strongly recommend that you make an appointment to visit the Nursery as soon as possible, as places do get booked up well in advance. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Julie, Shirley, Lauren, Heather or Sacha.

üWe have a very much ‘open door’ policy for parents whereby there is always a member of management on the premises for you to discuss any issues you may need assistance or advice with.

üWe issue a quarterly newsletter for parents with lots of information on events past and future, staff articles and information, activities, baking etc.

üWe have a parent information screen in the hall with updated information, as well as a parent information board which has up to date articles and helpful tips, and advice on childcare.

üThe nursery has a CCTV monitoring system in use in all the nursery rooms and garden.

üWe like to take the different age groups out for walks as often as possible and to the nearby field throughout the year.

üChildren are encouraged as a group to brush their teeth after lunch as part of their daily activity.

üWe like to display photographs of the children during their daily activities and Nursery events for parents to see what they have been doing. A book with all the photographs is kept in the hall for everyone to enjoy.

üWe like to organise ‘parents evenings’ for parents to take time to look in each Nursery room at the equipment and activities we have, talk to the team and see the work the children have been and will be doing, as well as discuss their own child’s development.

üPre-school children go on trips to the farm and pantomime.

üStaff are paediatric first aid qualified.

üEnvironment Health Inspected Graded top mark “5” for our Food Safety.
